It Looks Like The Peak of Tomato Season Has Arrived

I have been picking all of my tomatoes for the past month with the cherry tomato plants continuing to produce with flowers and tons of fruit. Last week I had picked over three hundred cherry tomatoes from just one harvest. I thought that was a lot until today when I happened to pick just under 500 of them! Steady Harvesting of All Tomato Types and Much More

It seems that it is about that time where harvesting becomes almost a daily venture. I would say that I have been picking all tomato types this week at least every other day. Time Has Come for Tomatoes to Change Colors

Cherry tomatoes came first and now both of my Roma and steakhouse tomatoes are now on their way to a ripening pinkish red color. There are only a few of them changing colors, but soon the rest will follow. With plenty of sunshine they will turn much faster and will be harvested earlier. (more…)

Several Plantings and a Harvest in the Past Two Days

For the past couple of days I have been focusing on getting all my transplants into the garden including peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, pickle cucumbers, and the last of my honeydew melons.  I also needed to plant at least one row of carrot seeds. (more…)

Spinach, Pea, Radish, and Celery Seeds Into the Ground

This week is supposed to be cool, but with high enough temperatures that I can start planting most of my cool weather seeds.  I still have to plant the last of my seed potatoes and transplant my lettuce into the garden, but getting these four seeds into the garden is a big chunk of the cool weather season. (more…)
