Roma Tomato Harvests May Be Stopping Very Soon
Last updated onI still have Roma tomatoes to pick, but after today I am certain that there is not that many harvests these plants have left. I would say that the best fruit from these plants are done and with the largest harvest to date I would say this is the peak or end of my tomato season.
Today I think I picked close to 100 Roma tomatoes, but I am not sure since I wasn’t anticipating on picking as many as I did. Although I might have picked over 100 tomatoes I did collect 70 pounds of them. This is the largest harvest of tomatoes I have picked so far in my gardening career.
A couple days ago I picked some more cantaloupes right after a rain storm. Many of them had fallen off the vine mainly due to the heavy rain and wind that they received. Some of them I wasn’t planning on picking had either fallen off or were pulling away from the vine and was pointless to leave them outside.
It seems the tables have turned in terms of cherry tomatoes versus Roma tomatoes. Today I didn’t get that many cherry tomatoes and only a few beans as well. I still have many cherry tomatoes on the plants and although many of them are green they will soon turn red in a matter of days or weeks.
I also picked some beans today which were not worth calling a harvest. Instead I did notice that my vines are starting to produce another crop full of flowers which will hopefully turn into beans in the near future. I would say that once these flowers turn into beans this would be the last phase of beans for the season.
Peppers were the last harvest of the day and three large ones were picked. My pepper plants seem to be doing well at the moment and have many fruit on them. I would say that I have a few more harvests to come from them and hopefully many more until the cold gets to them.
