Those Ears of Corn are Now Ripe Enough for Harvesting

That is correct most of my corn is now ready to be picked while others still need just a little bit more time. Today was actually the start of harvests from corn, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Now that most of my blueberries have been picked it is now time to focus on other fruits and vegetables that may be ready for harvesting. (more…)

Soon To Be Harvests of Many Vegetables From the Garden

For the past couple of weeks I have been picking blueberries until the season is over for them. At the moment there are still plenty of berries left even though I have picked over ten pounds of them from this year’s harvests. Soon there will be harvests from my corn, zucchini, tomatoes, and possibly pumpkins and melons. (more…)

Getting a Little Bit More Blueberries From the Second Harvest

With spring crops ending with little left to pick it is time to move on to blueberries and other warmer weather crops. I am using a summer hybrid broccoli that is supposed to be able to withstand the warm hot summer temperatures. I plan on growing and harvesting them all season long making sure that they do not flower or go to seed. (more…)

Harvesting Broccoli in the Summer This Year

I haven’t harvested much this season at the moment, but there are many more things that are getting ready for harvest time. Tomatoes are producing flowers, beans are climbing the ropes, lettuce is flourishing, and broccoli is next on the list. Latest Flower Transplanting From Container to Garden

With warmer weather arriving it was time to start planting some of the last flower plants into the garden. There are only about a dozen flowers or so that I have left to add and this should be done sometime this week at the latest. Many seeds that I have planted since the last post have begun to sprout including sunflowers, squash, and even cucumbers. (more…)

Straw on Strawberries

Getting the Last of the Season Activities Completed for Next Year

I think this season was pretty good especially with plenty of lettuce in the early spring/summer along with some new additions including snow peas as well as radishes. Cherry tomatoes were plentiful as well as Roma tomatoes which led to plenty of sauces and salsas. Now it is time to clean up the garden and place straw on the appropriate plants to protect them through the cold winter. (more…)

Week of Rain with Many Harvests to Make up for

I just spent about a week inside due to the weather that gave us plenty of wind and rain. I was able to pick what needed to be harvested before the storm, but I had many things that were ready during the end of this week. Today I took the time to pick everything that was ready for harvesting. This will include pumpkins, beans, an eggplant, peppers, and some tomatoes. (more…)

Time Has Come for Tomatoes to Change Colors

Cherry tomatoes came first and now both of my Roma and steakhouse tomatoes are now on their way to a ripening pinkish red color. There are only a few of them changing colors, but soon the rest will follow. With plenty of sunshine they will turn much faster and will be harvested earlier. (more…)

Small Harvest with Cucumbers and a Few More Zucchinis

I picked one cucumber this past Saturday, but I knew I would be picking more today so I decided to wait to write a post until I picked all the cucumbers that were ready. I also had some more zucchinis that were at the right size and decided to pick them as well. (more…)
