The First of Many Peppers and Ears of Corn
Last updated onTwo new vegetables have been picked this past week. These would include both peppers and corn. Peppers I picked a few days ago while corn was just recently harvested today.
I have been continuing to pick the usual which includes zucchini, cucumbers, Roma tomatoes, and cherry tomatoes. Only a few of my steakhouse tomatoes have been harvested this year. The good news is that the three plants that are growing them have plenty and I am just waiting for them to ripen.
Even though I have only picked a couple of peppers this week there are still many more on most of the plants. One plant doesn’t have much, but it is producing many flowers and buds which should lead to more peppers. This plant was basically just a late bloomer and should produce peppers long into September and maybe October depending on weather conditions.
Below you can see many peppers and buds that could mean more harvests to come.
Today was very exciting because corn is one of my favorite vegetables for the summer season. I was able to get 18 ears of corn today and there are still many more out there. Since I planted all the seeds at the same time I should get many more in the next few days or by next week.
My eggplant is probably another vegetable that should be almost ready to pick along with many of my Roma tomatoes. I have been picking some Romas, but the majority of them are still in the process of ripening.
I have three eggplant plants that are just continuing to produce flowers and fruit. I was very surprised to see most of them have over three per plant. A couple of them have even more.
I got a large harvest of cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini the other day. These plants are still growing and producing and I am just still picking them on a weekly basis.
