Beans are Mature Enough for Harvesting Along With Eggplants

This will be quite a long post since I haven’t written one in awhile. Many harvests have been happening over the past several weeks. Some of these harvests include many fruits and vegetables. Many of them are the first for the season such as beans, cantaloupes, and even eggplants. I also have my fall crop in the ground which includes both broccoli and kale. These I will be harvesting far into the fall season and possibly longer depending on the weather.

Time Has Come for Tomatoes to Change Colors

Cherry tomatoes came first and now both of my Roma and steakhouse tomatoes are now on their way to a ripening pinkish red color. There are only a few of them changing colors, but soon the rest will follow. With plenty of sunshine they will turn much faster and will be harvested earlier. (more…)

Today Was a Day Filled with New Harvests

There were two different harvests today that I was hoping to accomplish either yesterday or today.  Luckily it was a good day and I was able to harvest the first pole beans and cherry tomatoes of the season. (more…)

Some Cucumbers and a Few Good Things Happening in the Garden

I had some more cucumbers that were ready for some harvesting and they were a good size as well. I had a couple of large ones and a few average sized cucumbers that I could use for many different things. These were just cucumbers and pickles will be coming very soon and hopefully plenty of them. Fruit and Vegetable Seed Planting Indoors

It looks like that it is that time already to begin planting the main part of the garden indoors.  Starting indoors I find to be the best solution for getting ahead of the game.  Although space is limited I am still able to grow quite a bit before Spring weather arrives. (more…)

Cantaloupes, Tomatoes, Peppers, and Last of Pole Beans

It looks like the season is coming to an end with not many fruits and vegetables left to pick.  I have a couple of eggplants, peppers, and some tomatoes still growing, but for the most part it is pretty much done for 2016.

The good news is that I have a fall harvest of broccoli, kale, and cabbage to look forward to.  I also still have three watermelons in the garden that are going to need to be harvested real soon as well.  I would guess that I will be picking them sometime this month at the latest hopefully. (more…)
