Update on All Indoor and Outdoor Plants

Last updated on

It’s been awhile since I wrote a post here, but it has been quite busy around here and I want to share with you what has been going on with my garden plants, plants outside, and indoor ones as well.

So far not all of my plants have been outside, but most of my flowers are enjoying the fresh cool air.  Yes it is still a little bit cool which is great for my spinach and onions.

Now that the month of May is here I will soon begin tilling the entire garden and prepare for growing my beans, corn, and carrots into the ground soon after.  First I need to wait for the warmer weather in order to begin hardening off all my plants.

Right now most of the plants still growing indoors are doing quite good and I will place them outside as soon as some good warm weather arrives.  It is supposed to rain the next couple of days so I probably won’t be able to harden them off.

I don’t like to place them outside in the rain when they have never been outside before.  This could cause them some harm and may end up damaging the plants for the rest of the season.  Once a good sunny day with temps in the high 60’s and low 70’s I will put them outside.

For now I just want to show you how my plants are progressing as of today.  Let’s first dive right into my plants that are in the garden.

Spinach Plant

Spinach Plant #2

I think that it is time to start picking leaves from my spinach plants.  I will probably do it after the rain that is coming in the next couple of days.  When it comes to spinach the darker they are the better.

Onions in Totes Growing

Onions in Ground Sprouting

You can see that my onions that were planted in the ground are finally beginning to sprout.  This happened about a week ago and check out what they look like now.

That is everything that is growing in the garden and soon I will be placing my lettuce plants in the garden.  I probably should have placed them in the garden already, but my plants were doing so great.  Now that they have perked up and are looking healthy I will be putting them in the soil very soon.  Sometime this week would be perfect timing.

Below are all the plants that are outside day and night.  I am just waiting to till the garden before I place them in the garden.

Ruby Glow Hybrid

That is the Ruby glow hybrid and here is my iceberg lettuce.  They are looking much better than they did a couple of weeks ago.

Below are just my flowers that I am using to build up an army of good insects and bees.

Dill and both varieties of alyssum that includes carpet of snow and royal carpet.

Nothing but alyssum here.

Corn flowers are something new that I am trying out this year.  For now they are not doing too bad.

Some more dill here.

More Dill

I plan on growing more dill indoors because I love dill and it is a very beneficial plant to have in the garden.  I can never have too much dill.

Below are statice plants that I started growing last season and they seem to grow easily.

Statice Plants

Small sprouting amaranthus.  These were seeds that I saved last year from amaranthus plants that went to seed.

Amaranthus Sprouts

These are all the plants that have spent the past few weeks outside.  Now last but not least the plants that are still growing indoors.

The next two are basil and parsley.  They are herbs I decided on growing this year.

Now we are getting into the meat of the garden with my fruits and vegetables that are growing indoors.  Here are my eggplants.

Eggplant Plants

Pepper plants.

Here are some cucumber plants.  These are not all the plants I will grow because I will grow some directly in the soil once I till the garden.  These are just a few that are going to get a head start to the season.  Same thing goes with peppers and a few other plants.

The next two pictures are my melons which I am looking forward to transplanting in the garden.  The process should be simple due to the fact that they are in peat pots.  Honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon plants are what you see below.

Once I get these plants outside and into the garden they will start to look so much better and healthier.

Squash plants below were planted not that long ago and they are already growing up to five leaves.  I said that they grow much faster than any other plant.

Last but not least are my tomatoes.

Tomato Plants

These are all the plants that I have which are growing outdoors, in the garden, or indoors.  I will be growing more flowers such as dill and maybe some more alyssum.  I have planted all the tomatoes, melons, and eggplant that I want this season and will soon plant directly in the soil once the entire garden is tilled.
