Collecting More Pole Beans from Second Harvest
Last updated onMy first bean harvest which was about a week ago didn’t yield that many beans or as many as I thought I would get. The second time I ended up getting many more including two full bowls of pole beans.
I have harvested more in other years, but I think that this is a good amount and is enough to start canning and storing them for the Winter. The plants still are producing and I am sure that I will be harvesting more beans in the near future.
I picked only 18 pounds today which is quite good for a second harvest. I hope that this won’t be the biggest harvest of the year. I do have plenty of more beans, but they were not ready yet and will most likely pick them on the next harvest day.
Right after picking my beans I then moved on to my cucumbers which needed to be picked soon as well. These are growing quite well and have picked several dozen over the past couple of weeks.
Here is a harvest from a couple days ago.
Here is the harvest I completed today.
Finally some of my tomatoes are turning red and ripening. This one isn’t a cherry tomato and is actually one of my steakhouse tomatoes.
My corn is actually starting to produce silks which is the start of an ear of corn which what I am waiting for. I would say another couple of weeks and I should be picking my corn.
Along with silks I am getting some tassels which are used to pollinate the silks which turn to ears of corn.
A couple of more melons are coming through. One of them is a honeydew and the other one is a cantaloupe.
Last but not least my eggplants are getting bigger. They are nowhere near close to harvesting, but I am sure the day of harvesting them will be here sooner than I think. Check out their size right now.
